Just a short 8 hours north of Phoenix is some majestic slot canyons tucked away in Page, Arizona. We began with a hike through Antelope Canyons. The canyon walls soar into the sky with just a sliver of walkway through the middle. Filled with winding halls and photogenic spots through out made this a great first stop. Once we finished our out and back hike, we drove just another 30 minutes north just over the border into Utah. Lake Powell was fairly low so I could see lots of exposed rock formations throughout the entire lake. The water was so still that it looked like a plane of glass. This is where our group set up camp for the night. Sandy beaches, bonfire and some acoustic musicians made the night bliss. The following morning we headed out to Horseshoe Bend which is a massive horse shoe shaped incised meander of the Colorado River. Of course the drive home we had to make our through Oak Creek Canyon again, this detour its just add on to many of our trips because of the ease of access.
Overall it was a short weekend trip but well worth all the sights and sees.
