Canyon Point 2018

This was a simple weekend up north near Payson to beat the beat the heat. Most of us arrived on Friday night and got camp set up, made some dinner and began to share stories over beers surrounding the campfire. It was a chilly night with a clear sky which made it easy to get some night photography done. Saturday morning is was the perfect weather. Had some coffee and hung around for a bit while we waited for some more friends to drive up from Phoenix. We all shuttled over to Woods Canyon Lake to do a short but beautiful hike around the water. We stopped and checked out some cool spots, cliffs and downed logs. A couple hours of hiking and we were ready to head back to camp to enjoy some ice cold beverages while playing bags, or corn hole depending on where you are from, in the woods. Saturday night we all came together and had a pot luck dinner. kielbasa, potatoes, ribs, chips and our favorite camping desert apple crisp. There is nothing like eating in the calm woods with good friends, sunsets and the great outdoors. Anyhow the night quickly got chilly and we all bundled up and sat around the fire for another night. One of my favorite camping tricks is taking just a couple coals out of the fire with the shovel and placing them under our folding chairs. This makes an instant butt warmer which is nice when it gets cold out. Lastly Sunday we woke up and broke camp and started our way back to the valley. We had a breakfast pit stop at one of my favorite little places in Payson called Pinon Café. Overall just a easy weekend relaxing with friends.
