Broken Arrow and the Ranch 2018

A super fun trail day spent with Cactus 4 Wheelers. Saturday morning we departed Phoenix bright and Early. We arrived at the ranch, where we unloaded all of our camping gear and waited for the rest of the crew to show up. Everyone arrived and we convoyed up to Sedona to the Broken Arrow Trailhead parking lot where we all regrouped to air down. Once we were aired down we began this scenic trail. Our first stop was Submarine rock, where we all hiked up to the top and just stared into the awe and beauty of the Sedona red rock. After this we wheeled past several pink jeeps to get to our halfway point at Chicken Point. Here we could see the mountain bike trails High on the Hog and the White Line. We waited to see someone ride it but no takers this Saturday. After some wonderful picture opportunities we made our way back the narrow dusty trails til we got back onto some slick rock. Here we had some fun playing on some rocks and formations. This is also where I ripped my trailer plug off and scraped the bottom of my hitch while almost beaching my truck on a rock a little too big. We watched one from our group conquer the crack which is this obstacle where you put your tires on the side of this crack and ride through the center. This takes great skill and a fairly modified vehicle. The last part of the trail is known as the Devils Staircase. Although the pictures don't do it justice, it is very steep and chunky. We got to the bottom and aired up as we headed back to the ranch for some brisk night fun at the onesie party. As the milky way moved across the sky, we sat around the fire and barbecued some chicken while all enjoying each others company. One by one we began to fall asleep. The smell of bacon and coffee woke everyone up for one last group feast before we all headed home. A truly wonderful quick trip to Sedona with some amazing folks.
