Veterans Day Run 2018

I've been quite busy the last month getting ready for some life changes. I am a couple posts behind so stand by for some posts the next week.

This was the annual Veterans Day Run to Montana Mountain. It was simply a day trip but was such a blast. We started by meeting in Gold Canyon to top off fuel and snacks. Once everyone arrived we began our drive to the trail head and air down location. At this spot we also flew all of the flags represented by all the service members on the trip. I of course flew my Marine Corps flag high and proud next to the other branches. We set off to climb the mountain, views of the surrounding area where stunning. I have never seen the Superstition Mountains like this before. The trail was quite busy in the beginning but the farther we got out the less there was which made it nice for all our stop and go escapades. Anyhow after a few short hours we reached the tip top where we climbed one last little off camber hill to our lunch spot. During our lunch break we all gathered and shared a beer on top while we looked endlessly out into the mountains. As we packed up form lunch we began the second half of the loop. Into the Arizona pinstripe tight trails we headed. We came across a couple of the camping spots we were thinking of grabbing and they were all occupied except for one up on a cliff. We had decided earlier in the day that we all were just going to do the loop instead of camping although they were nice to see for future use. Lastly we took a wash out back to the highway. We stopped here to air up, watch the sunset and rush to find our jackets as the cold night took over. Once we were all back on the road the convoy broke into a couple different groups. My group decided to stop at Oreganos for some pizza and beer and talk about the day and our favorite parts. Overall it was another great trip with Cactus 4 Wheelers.
